Both from Bejala, Algeria, the Bayou/Boucheta tandem are the first women’s team from Algeria to compete in the FIVB World Championships where the Algerians will be seeded 42nd. Algeria qualified for a spot in the Netherlands by finishing second in their pool in the CAVB qualification tournament (Tunisia). Bayou is 21 years old, 5-8 and is a student who enjoys spending free time on the internet. Boucheta is 31 years old and 5-11. The FIVB World Championships will be the first FIVB international competition for either player although both have been very active in competing in events in their own federation, the CAVB.
