Van der Vlist is team with Olympian van Gestel and will be seeded 47th at the FIVB World Championships. van der Vlist, 29, 6-0 lives in Amsterdam and van Gestel, 23, 5-11, resides in The Hague and 2015 is the first year the two of them have played together. Individually, van der Vlist has played in 60 FIVB tournaments and van Gestel has played 36 total FIVB tournaments including 21 with Madelein Meppelink with home she won one gold medal (2013-Corrientes, Argentina) and finished ninth in the 2012 Olympics with Meppelink and won the silver medal in the 2008 U-19 FIVB World Championships in The Hague with Braakman. In previous FIVB World Championships, van der Vlist finished 37th in 2011 with Van der Hoeven and 33rd with Wesselink in 2013. Van Gestel finished 17th with Meppelink in 2013 in her only previous participation in the FIVB World Championships.
