Stoyanovskiy and Yarzutkin enjoying first World Champs

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, June 29, 2015 – They might be among the youngest guys around during the Netherlands 2015, FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Amsterdam, but 18-year-old Oleg Stoyanovskiy and 19-year-old Artem Yarzutkin are adapting quickly to life on the sand.

The Russians have played against two strong teams so far; first off against Spain’s Adrian Gavira and Pablo Herrera and then against Brazil’s Emanuel Rego and Ricardo Santos. They lost the first 2-0 (15-21, 19-21), but improved in their second and won the first set against the 2003 world champions before they lost 2-1 (17-21, 21-13, 18-16).

“We were very nervous, but we now know that we can play against those strong teams, although we lost,” Stoyanovskiy said. “The venue is very beautiful and great.”

Next up for the youngsters is a match against Edward Ajanako and Jonathan Scott from Ghana, a match from which the winners will leave with their first World Championships win.
