Sander Mulder appointed ambassador for Apeldoorn

Apeldoorn, Netherlands, June 3, 2015 - Sander Mulder will replace Bram Ronnes as ambassador for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 in Apeldoorn.

“I am honoured I have been asked to do this job, as it turned out to be difficult for Bram to combine two functions. Beach volleyball has always been a great passion for me. I am really looking forward to having a great time and to a wonderful World Championships,” said Sander Mulder.

Bram Ronnes recently took on a new job as Technical Director at the Dutch Volleyball Federation (Nevobo), a task which is impossible to combine with being an ambassador in Apeldoorn.

Sander Mulder is a former beach volleyball player who competed at the highest level for a long period of time. Together with Michel Everaert, he represented the Netherlands in beach volleyball at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Between 1994 and 2002, Mulder became Dutch national champion on five occasions. He was crowned King of the Beach twice.

As a result of injuries, he missed qualification for the Olympic Games in Sydney and Athens and was forced to end his career on the sand.

Mulder (45) combined beach volleyball with indoor volleyball. He played for Dynamo in Apeldoorn for 11 seasons, becoming national champion seven times. He also represented the Dutch national team.

Next season, Mulder will coach Particolare/DS in the Dutch Premier League.
