Match balls to take in the country ahead of world champs

The Hague, the Netherlands, June 14, 2015 - The official match ball of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 will arrive at each of the four host venues on the most traditional of Dutch transportation – a bike.

The four teams will begin the journey at Schiphol Airport on June 24 with each travelling to the venues in The Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam over the course of two days. Stops at beach volleyball clubs, offices, schools and hospitals are also included on the journey, which will see each team travel an average of 100km a day.

The initiative is the brainchild of partner promoter the Bas van de Goor Foundation.

“It is great that the Bas van de Goor Foundation is associated with the World Championships” founder Bas van de Goor said. “During the WK Beach on Tour we will be able to generate a lot of enthusiasm amongst people for this special event. The World Championships will be a great event for elite athletes, but a lot of activities for recreational athletes are organised as well. This enables us to highlight the work of the foundation.”
