Fernanda & Lima continue winning ways in The Hague

 
The Hague, The Netherlands, July 1, 2015 - In a meeting here Tuesday between two teams from South America, Fernanda Alves and Taiana Lima of Brazil defeated Norisbeth Agudo and Olaya Pazo of Venezuela 2-0 (21-12, 21-14) in a 35-minute Round of 32 elimination match on the sand of The
Hofvijver stadium court.The gold medal winners at the Dutch Grand Slam last July in The Hague at nearby Scheveningen
beach, the ninth-seeded Fernanda and Lima will play the winner of the eighth-seeded Elsa Baquerizo/Liliana Fernandez of Spain or 31st-seeded Linline Matauatu/Pata Miller of Vanuatu Tuesday for a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships later in the day.By winning their 11-straight match in The Hague, the Brazilians took advantage of Fernanda's height (189 cm, 6'2") to control the tempo of the match with the smaller South American rivals."Yes, Fernanda's size was a big difference." said the 31-year old Lima.  "That was the key to winning the gold medal in The Hague last year.  It helps to have a big block at the net."
