Erdmann & Matysik continue second world championship medal quest

 
The Hague, The Netherlands, July 1, 2015 - Jonathan Erdmann and Kay Matysik continued their winning ways in world championship competition as the eighth-seeded Germans posted a 2-0 (21-17, 21-15) win in 39 minutes over the 19th-seeded Grimalt cousins of Chile in an opening men’s elimination match here Wednesday at the 2015 event.Podium placers at the 2013 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Poland, Erdmann and Matysik have now five-straight matches in the prestigious event highlighted by the Stare Jablonki bronze medal win over Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego of Brazil, the Rome 2011 world champions.Erdmann and Matysik, who captured Pool H on the on the sand at The Hofvijver stadium court Tuesday, will now play the winner of the third of four men’s elimination matches Wednesday when ninth-seeded Tri Bourne and John Hyden of the United States are challenged by 35th-seeded Christian Garcia and Francisco Alfredo Marco of Spain.  Wednesday’s win was the Germans third for the Grimalts (Esteban and Marco) on the FIVB World Tour.
