Book retraces story of beach volleyball in the Netherlands

 
The Hague, Netherlands, June 19, 2015 - A 250-page book called  ‘In de ban van beachvolleybal’ has been published retracing the history of beach volleyball in the Netherlands ahead of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015.

Bas van de Goor, tournament director of the Beach Volleyball Word Championships, handed out the first copies of the book to some of  the main characters described in its pages.

“It has become an impressive document,” said Bas van de Goor. “The interviews and anecdotes of how it all began and how the sport has grown are great. It covers wonderful background stories about the sport's successes and includes beautiful photos. The book is a good reflection of the last 25 years of beach volleyball in the Netherlands. I can recommend it to all sports fans.”

Contributors to the book are journalists who have followed the sport over the past 25 years. The book is priced at €24,95.

‘In de ban van beachvolleybal’ (Under the spell of beach volleyball) is available in book stores in the Netherlands and can be ordered online via bol.com and www.beachvolleybalboek.nl. During the World Championships, the book will be for sale in all four host cities.
