Seeded 12th in the competition, Evandro and Pedro are a new team this season Evandro played in 10 events last season with Vitor Felipe with a season-best placement of fifth in Moscow. The pair also played in two title matches in 2013 with a gold medal in Berlin and a silver in Moscow the next week. Pedro played nine events of last season with Emanuel Rego before teaming with Alvaro Filho for two stops where the pair had a gold medal finish in Stare Jablonki. Both players’ best World championship placements were fifths. Evandro, who started playing full-time internationally in 2012, and Felipe were fifth in Stare Jablonki 2013. Pedro was fifth with Rhooney Ferramenta at Rome 2011 and Bruno Oscar Schmidt in Stare Jablonki 2013. Pedro began in earnest on the world tour in 2006 and enters this season with 14 gold medals, 29 podium placements and 41 “final four” finishes. He never finished below fourth in any of six FIVB youth/junior World Championships with three under-21 gold medals (2002 with Ian Borges, 2003 with Pedro Cunha, and 2006 with Bruno Oscar Schmidt). Pedro was the FIVB’s top blocker in 2013.
