Qualifying through the NORCECA Continental Tour, Cuba’s Flores/Martinez will be seeded 43rd at this year’s FIVB World Championships. Flores, 24 and 6-0 and Martinez, 21, 5-10, will be competing in their first FIVB World Championships and their first FIVB international event in the Netherlands. In three competitions as a team in 2013 and 2014 on the NORCECA Continental Tour, Flores/Martinez earned a gold and silver at events in Cuba and a silver in Trinidad & Tobago. Martinez did complete in Halifax, Canada, in the 2012 U-21 FIVB World Championships where she finished 25th in the tournament. Flores/Martinez will be the 14th team to represent Cuba in the FIVB World Championships.
