Meppelin/Van Iersel will be seeded first at the FIVB World Championships. Meppelink, 25 and 6-0 who lives in The Hague, and Van Iersel, 27, 5-11, who lives in Amsterdam, have played in 11 FIVB International events as a team entering 2015 with two bronze medals, one fourth and three fifth-place finishes. Meppelink has played in 62 total FIVB events with one gold (2014-Sophie van Gestel-Corrientes, Argentina) playing 23 tournaments with Marloes Wesselink and 21 with van Gestel. Van Iersel has 97 total FIVB tournaments with two gold medals (both with Sanne Keizer) playing 53 events with Keizer and 22 with Wesselink. Both Meppelink/Van Iersel finished ninth in the 2012 Olympics, Meppelink playing with van Gestel and Van Iersel with Keizer. Last year, Meppelink Van Iersel won the CEV Championships and Meppelink also won the event with Keizer in 2012 in The Hague. Van Iersel won the U-21 World Championships in 2008 with Danielle Remmers. This will be the third time in the FIVB World Championships for Meppelink and fourth for Van Iersel but the first time as teammates.
