The highest-seeded of the four Germany teams, Olympians Holtwick/Semmler will be seeded fourth in the FIVB World Championships. Both residing in Berlin, Holtwick, 31 and 5-9 and Semmler, 29, 6-0, have played in 88 FIVB World Tour events as a team, winning two gold medals (2012-Aland, Finland, 2014-Gstaad, Switzerland), five silvers, six bronze, four fourths and nine fifth place finishes. Overall, Holtwick has 98 FIVB career events on her resume while Semmler has 97 total tournaments. The duo finished ninth in the 2012 Olympics and in three previous participations in the FIVB World Championships, they were 17th in 2009, ninth in 2011 and 17th in 2013. In the last two visits to The Hague, Holtwick/Semmler were third in 2013 and second in 2014. They also participate regularly on their national tour, have three golds in CEV competition and earned the bronze at the 2013 Continental Cup final in Campinas, Brazil.
