World Champs wildcards decided

 
The Hague, the Netherlands, June 21, 2015 – Dutch pairs Michelle Stiekema Danielle Remmers and Daan Spijkers and Tim Oude Elferink have wrapped up the two wildcard places for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships via the Dutch premier league rankings. 

It means there will now be nine Dutch teams competing at the home World Championships – five in the men’s tournament and four in the women’s. The Championships run across four cities in the Netherlands – The Hague, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Apeldoorn – from June 26 until July 5.  

Remmers and Stiekema will play in Pool L, which is based in Rotterdam. They will take on Italian duo Marta Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi Toth, Argentinian pair Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug and China’s Wang Fun and Yue Yuan. 

“We’ll see how things go,” Stiekema said. “I have no idea how we will get on. We will try to play consistently and enjoy playing in these World Championships.”

Spijkers and Oude Elferink will compete in Pool I in The Hague. There they will take on Switzerland’s Philip Gabathuler and Mirco Gerson, Puerto Rican pair Roberto Rodriguez Bertran and Eric Haddock and US duo John Hyden and Ty Bourne.
