Qualifiers confirm African teams at Beach Volleyball World Championships

 
Tunis, Tunisia, February 18, 2015 - The men's teams of Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa and Ghana claimed berths at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 as the group stage of the African Nations Qualifier was held in Tunis.

In the women's competition Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Algeria booked tickets to the prestigious event, after taking the top two positions in each of the group stage pools.

Hosts Tunisia led men's pool A by winning their four matches, ahead of Egypt who came second with a win-loss ratio of 3-1, followed by Libya (2-2), Algeria (1-3) and Ivory Coast (0-4).

South Africa topped Pool B with a 4-1 record, followed by Ghana (4-1) - behind on set ratio - Morocco (4-1), Nigeria (2-3), Sierra Leone (1-4) and Niger (0-5).

In the women's competition, Morocco led pool A ahead of Nigeria, Tunisia and Egypt, while South Africa topped Pool B followed by Algeria, Namibia and Niger.

South Africa now play Egypt and Tunisia meet Ghana in the semifinals of the men's competition on Wednesday, while Morocco face Algeria and South Africa battle it out against Nigeria in the women's semis.
