Lima/Fernanda book ticket to final as win streak continues

The Hague, the Netherlands, July 3, 2015 – Taiana Lima and Fernanda Alves became the first team to book their place in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship 2015 with a 21-12, 21-15 win over Germany’s Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler.

It was their 12th straight win in The Hague as they came out on top, beating their German counterparts in a repeat of The Hague Grand Slam 2014 final.

Lima/Fernanda came out firing, carving out a 16-8 lead in the opening set. Holtwick/Semmler looked to counter with back-to-back points, but the Brazilians, who lost to the Germans at the Stare Jablonki Grand Slam 2014, powered through to register a dominating 21-12 victory.

It was far from the same story in the second set, however, as Holtwick/Semmler stuck close, drawing level at 9-9. But again, Lima/Fernanda regrouped and, aided by some errors on the German side, moved four points up at 16-12.
