Dutch teams to compete for wild card

 
The Hague, the Netherlands, February 13, 2015 - Eight men’s beach volleyball teams from the Netherlands will compete for a chance to play at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands on March 6 after a qualification tournament for one wild card place was announced.

Participation for the wildcard event is open to the highest placed teams on the Dutch national ranking. Points for this ranking are awarded during national beach volleyball competition events.

The Lindobeach indoor venue in The Hague will host the competition, which will be a single elimination format, with all quarterfinals, semifinals and the final all on the same day.

As hosts, the Netherlands can enter five men’s teams and four women’s teams in the Beach Volleyball World Championships. A total of 48 teams will qualify for both the men’s and women’s events which will be played across four cities for the first time; The Hague, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Rotterdam.

Three Dutch men’s teams have already obtained their places in the World Championships. Reinder Nummerdor/Christiaan Varenhorst and Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen qualified via the FIVB National Federation Entry Ranking. Michiel van Dorsten/Steven van de Velde have received a wild card.
