City Hosts ready to welcome the world to The Hague

The Hague, Netherlands, May 20, 2015 - Visitors to The Hague during the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 will be welcomed by City Hosts from The Ambassade van Den Haag.

The Ambassade van Den Haag consists of 340 City Hosts. These volunteers will be located at city hotspots and busy junctions during the events to help visitors, answer questions and provide tips on navigating sights in The Hague. In short, they will be wherever people come together in the city, to welcome them and to help them find their way.

The Ambassade van Den Haag was founded in 2013 ahead of the Hockey World Cup. This year, the specially trained City Hosts are ready to welcome visitors of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. Each day of the World Championships, fifty City Hosts will be at work at some of  the most visited locations in the city.

The City Hosts are specially trained to make sure visitors experience a ‘wow-moment’.

City Host Jiri Beijer said: “I always try to take time and to be friendly. My best wow-moment was when I recommended a tour to a group during the City-Pier-City run. After the tour they came to thank me for the advice.”

City Host Reginald Croes said: “I want to show the visitors of The Hague unexpected sights. That is why I love to refer to the Schuilkerk on the Juffrouw Idastraat.”

City Hosts will also be at The Hague Central Station. Marena D’Amore has helped tourists to change their train tickets. “It is really great to be able to help people on their journeys, especially if you can speak to them in their own language.”
