Broder/Valjas awarded World Championships wild card

 
The Hague, Netherlands, June 18, 2015 - Canadians Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas, who currently lead the 2015 World Tour Ranking, have been awarded a wild card to participate in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015, where they will replace 2013 world champion Chen Xue and Xinyi Xia of China, who have withdrawn from the competition due to injury.

Broder and Valjas have had a remarkable season so far, winning gold at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Fuzhou Open 2015 and bronze at the Lucerne Open, and will be among the favourites at the Dutch World Championships, where they will join female compatriots Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan. Broder and Valjas will play in Pool E in Rotterdam.

There are two other changes to the World Championship lineup with Randy Williams of South Africa joining forces with Palesa Sekhonyana, replacing an injured Vitalina Nel. In the men's competition, Sean Rosenthal and Phil Dalhausser (injured) of the United States will be replaced by compatriots Ryan Doherty and John Mayer.
