Alison/Bruno ease into final

The Hague, the Netherlands, July 4, 2015 – Alison Cerutti will compete in his third FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships final after he and Bruno Schmidt defeated Theodore Brunner/Nick Lucena 21-17, 21-15 in the semifinals in The Hague on Saturday.

It was a simple win for the Brazilians and they will now face home heroes Reinder Nummerdor/Christian Varenhorst in the finals on Sunday in their first gold medal match of 2015.

Lucena/Brunner started well, taking the lead early on. Alison/Bruno drew level at seven-all and proceeded to carve out a lead following a series of clever attacks from the latter. From there the duo easily converted the opener 21-17.

The Brazilians, playing in their fourth final four as a pair, continued to control the game in the second, taking a four point lead at 7-3. A big block from Alison, world champion in 2011, extended the lead to 12-5 and Lucena/Brunner continued to struggle as the match began to close. An ace from Alison and a spike from Bruno ended proceedings.
