The Hague, Netherlands, April 7, 2015 - The sand in the four stadiums of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2015 will be provided by Agterberg BV, after an agreement was signed on Tuesday by tournament director Bas van de Goor and the Dutch supplier.
Agterberg is a specialist in flooring systems for different kinds of sports. The company has a strong reputation in equine flooring systems. "We are honoured that we have been chosen as supplier. The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is one of the biggest sporting events of the year in the Netherlands. It is a beautiful showcase," said CEO/owner Frank Agterberg. During the signing of the contract, he symbolically handed over a first bucket of sand to tournament director Bas van de Goor.
"Creating the best possible facilities for the players has our highest priority", said Bas van de Goor. "Choosing the finest sand is a key element. This important aspect in the logistics of the World Championships is now in fine hands."
Agterberg will provide 3500 m3 sand for sixteen beach volleyball courts. Outside the four main stadiums in the four host cities, twelve official warm-up courts and training courts will also be set up. The sand used for the courts satisfies requirements concerning the type of grain, hardness and porosity. The type of sand supplied by Agterberg has been approved by the FIVB's certification agency in Canada.
