Alvaro and Vitor are seeded 11th in the World Championships and will being playing together for the first time in 2015. The pair did play in three junior/youth championships, including a second at the under-21 World Championships in 2009 and 2010. The Brazilians lost 23-21 and 21-19 to Michal Kadziola/Jakub Szalankiewicz of Poland in the 2009 under-21 gold medal match in Blackpool, England. The next year, the Brazilians lost a three-setter to Garrett May and Sam Schachter of Canada. Alvaro placed second at the 2013 Stare Jablonki World Championships with Ricardo Santos while Vitor was fifth with Evandro Goncalves. Both players started playing full-time on the FIVB World Tour in 2013. Both have two world tour gold medals to their credit with Vitor winning both his in 2013 with Evandro (Berlin) and Alison (Xiamen). Named the FIVB’s top rookie and most improved player in 20013, Alvaro’s gold medals are with Ricardo (2013 in Gstaad) and Pedro Salgado (2014 in Stare Jablonki).
