Ajanako and Sarpong will be the first men’s or women’s team from Ghana to compete in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. Both players started playing on the FIVB World Tour in 2014. The pair qualified for the World Championships advancing to the semi-final stage of the Africa Beach Volleyball World Championships in February at Tunis, Tunisia. Ajanako and Sarpong finished third at the end of the competition after losing 2-1 to host Tunisia and defeated Egypt 2-0 to place third. Ajanako also coached the Ghana team in last August’s Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.
