Seeded eighth in the 2015 FIVB World Championships, German Olympians Erdmann and Matysik will be competing for the four-straight time in the world finale after placing 33rd in 2009 (Stavanger), ninth in 2011 (Rome) and third in 2013 (Stare Jablonki). Erdmann and Matysik lost to eventual champions Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen in the Stare Jablonki semi-finals before upsetting second-seeded Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego of Brazil in the bronze medal match. The win avenged a setback to the Brazilians in an elimination match at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Erdmann, a regular on the FIVB World Tour since 2009, captured a gold medal at the FIVB’s under-19 World Championships in Bermuda with Marvin Klass. Playing with Erdmann since 2009, Matysik became a FIVB regular in 2006. He captured a 2005 FIVB Challenger event in 2005 with Marcus Popp at Cagliari, Italy. Erdmann and Matysik also netted a FIVB bronze medal in 20014 at the Shanghai Grand Slam.
