Kuleshov and Yakovlev will be competing together in their second in the World Championships as the 34th-seeded team as the pair placed 37th at the 2013 worlds in Stare Jablonki.  Entering the 2015 season, Kuleshov and Yakovlev best finishes on the FIVB World Tour have been 17ths in 2013 (Anapa) and 2014 (Doha).  The pair has posted “final four” finishes in the past two Asian Championships with a 2013 fourth and a 2014 second where they lost the finals to Isaac Kapa and Christopher McHugh of Australia.  Kuleshov and Yakovlev, who placed ninth in the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea, attempted to qualify their country for the London 2012 Olympic Games through the Continental Cup competition with compatriots Dyachenko and Sidorenko.
